Srinagar, Jul 12 (KNO): Amid demand for change in school timing, the government Saturday notified a new schedule for functioning of schools in Kashmir division with effect from Monday. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) in a notification said that the schools falling within the municipality limits of Srinagar district shall function from 8:30 Am to 2:30 Pm. DSEK further said that the schools falling outside the municipality limits of Srinagar shall function from 9Am to 3Pm. Pertinently, on July-07, the government decided to reopen the schools in Kashmir on July-08 following the 15-days of summer break. Minister of Education Sakina Itoo earlier had said that the schools falling under the Srinagar Municipality Limits shall function from 7:30 Am to 11:30 Am. She also said that the schools outside the Srinagar Municipality Limits shall function from 8Am to 12Pm. The minister had further informed that the schools shall conduct two online classes to complete the syllabus on time. Adding that “After a 1-hour break, 2 online classes will follow.” In the backdrop of morning classes, parents and teachers had expressed resentment against the new school timing issued post summer break—(KNO)
